The American University for Science and Technology Non-profit organization established since the 15th of July 2004 in the State of California to provide educational services (University and a high school) and had been federally approved effective July 2004 as a (501)(C)(3) tax exempt public charity organization. High School (American Unified School of Technology) is fully operational and registered at the state of California Department of Education, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) with School CDS Code 19647336146013. The University had its application ready for submission to BPPVE for state approval about the end of 2007, but the government closed BPPVE down the same year. During the sunset of BPPVE all California universities including AUSTC had become legally operational and fully eligible to grant degrees without a need for any governmental approval up to the first of January 2010. On October 11, 2009, Governor Schwarzenegger signed the Assembly Bill (AB) 48 (Portantino, Chapter 310, Statutes of 2009). The AB 48 is known as the Private Post-secondary Education Act of 2009 ("Act") and it established the Bureau for Private Post-secondary Education (BPPE) within the Department of Consumer Affairs. The Act became operative on January 1, 2010 and caused all private post-secondary Institutions operating in the state of California to become under the jurisdiction of the newly established governmental body (BPPE) and subject to the requirements of the Act, unless they are exempt pursuant to sections 94874, 94874.1, or 94927.5 of the Act, accordingly, the university prepared and submitted its application within the granted time frame. To simplify operational status of older BPPVE approved universities, the same law granted an approval extension for three years effective the expiration date of last BPPVE granted approval with an order to make a new application for BPPE's approval after extension’s expiration. The law also permitted all Universities practising at the state of California including AUSTC, to continue practising if they submit their applications within 90 days from announcement's date. The American University for Science and Technology had submitted its application for approval since July 2010 to BPPE, has been in processing since then. The application had been reviewed, a site visit had taken place, comments received but a final decision has not been taken yet. the university submitted its answers with a report of taken corrective actions.
